About this policy

MotR ("we", "us", "our") provides the MotR platform, including the MotR consumer app, MotR Secure vehicle protection and MotR Fleet management (together, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect your personal information when you use the Service or visit motr.uk.

We are the data controller for personal information we collect directly from you. Where MotR Fleet is provided to your employer, your employer may be the data controller for information about you as a driver, and we may process that information as a data processor on their behalf.

Information we collect

• Account information — your name, email address and role, when you create a MotR account.
• Vehicle information — vehicle registrations you look up and the official DVLA and DVSA data returned for them, including MOT history, tax status and specifications.
• Location information — for MotR Secure and MotR Fleet, GPS positions from your tracker, used for live tracking, alerts and journey history.
• Payment information — handled by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not store full card numbers.
• Usage information — how you use the Service, device type and limited analytics to improve the product.

Why we use your information (lawful basis)

We rely on the following lawful bases under UK GDPR:

• Contract — to provide the Service you have signed up for.
• Legal obligation — to meet record-keeping and tax requirements.
• Legitimate interests — to keep the Service secure, prevent fraud and improve our products, where these do not override your rights.
• Consent — for optional analytics, marketing and non-essential cookies, which you can withdraw at any time.

How we share your information

• DVLA and DVSA — to retrieve vehicle data for lookups you request.
• Stripe — to process payments securely.
• Hosting and infrastructure providers — to run the Service.
• MotR Fleet customers (your employer) — vehicle and driving data relating to fleet vehicles, as instructed by them.

We do not sell your personal information.

International transfers

Where information is transferred outside the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as UK adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

You have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the use of your personal information, and to data portability. To exercise any right, contact us through the Support Centre. See our GDPR Statement for more detail.

Children

The Service is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes

We may update this policy and will notify you of material changes through the Service or by email where appropriate.
